Salvation Is of the Lord

(Jonah 4:11) The last word always belongs to the Lord. And the last word in Jonah reveals so much about the love of God. This is God's last word... 

(Jonah 4:4-11) Life is full of questions. Questions probe our hearts and drive us to the God of all answers. Listen to the questions throughout the book of Jonah and you will learn more about yourself, this world, and ultimately, about God. 

(Jonah 4:1-11) God was at work in the gourd! Through a simple object lesson the Lord was teaching Jonah (and us) what truly matters. Here are five truths we must be remember if we want to think and feel as God does. 

(Jonah 4:2-11) Anger never gets better on its own; it always gets worse. We must discover the seeds of it in our own lives and ask the Lord to remove every thought, motive, and desire that isn't rooted in Him. 

(Jonah 4:2-8) Why do we get angry? In Jonah's experience we identify some of the small roots of anger that grow and produce bitter fruit. A little root of bitterness can become a big problem. 

(Jonah 4:1,11) Our world is an angry world, but the anger that is most destructive is the spirit of anger in God's people. It robs us of joy and keeps others from seeing the God of love in us. Let's talk about anger in the life of a believer... 

(Jonah 3:10-4:1) It was not hard for God to conquer Ninevah - one message brought them to their knees! But, Jonah? Today we discover why there is a fourth chapter to the book and what God is trying to teach His servants. 

(Jonah 3:1-10) Throughout Scripture 40 is a number of testing and proving. God gives a space of grace and men must determine what they will do with it. He will bring judgment but He offers mercy. Would you give the next 40 days to telling others?

(Jonah 3:1-5) One of God's favorite words is the "go." It implies definite advancement and a divine aim. Those who have the truth cannot be passive with it. This is a clarion call to stop being spectators and become participants in God's work in this world. 

(Jonah 3:1-3) Three commands, action words, were given to Jonah. They are the same three things that all of us are to do now. It is time to consider God's commands and determine to take action. 

(Jonah 3:1-3) The word "great" is greatly overused! Not everything is great. Not everyone is great. Yet the Lord uses this word to describe Ninevah. Today we discover three things that are truly great.

Perhaps you cannot see how the Lord is working in all of the details and even the difficulties of your life...but He is! So many of His miracles are not known until much later. Remember this: He is working right where you are.

It is amazing that God would listen to us! A holy God hears the sinner's prayer when he comes honest and humbly to Him. God's miraculous work begins to be seen when His servants return to prayer.

Jonah is full of miracles but the greatest miracle in the book is the goodness shown to a rebellious sinner. The story is not about a great fish, a great prophet, or even a great city - it is about a great God!

What will it take for us to pray again? At the lowest moment Jonah comes back into the holy presence of God. Today we join a private worship service in the belly of a great fish...

Have you ever wondered what God wants from you? He wants you! All of you. Simple, complete obedience is the only way to know God's best. As we give Him ourselves we are given His perfect will.

If we will not listen to God's Word then we may have to listen to His works. God knows how to get our attention! Observe how the Lord dealt with Jonah and how Jonah had to respond. Why are you running from God?

The book of Jonah is not about Jonah and the whale! It is not about Jonah and Ninevah. It is about Jonah and God. All of life is about our personal relationship and obedience to God.

We live in a noisy world! So many voices crying out for our attention. Only one thing cuts through all of noise - "the word of the LORD." He still speaks.

There is one message that is needed in every nation and in every generation. Those who do not know God need to hear it and those who do know HIm need to hear it again: "Salvation is of the LORD."
