Why Jesus Came

(John 17:4; 19:30) “The finished work of Christ” – five powerful words that God used to bring missionary Hudson Taylor to saving faith. As we conclude this series of lessons, we rejoice knowing that Jesus fulfilled every divine purpose for which He came! May God grant us the grace to fulfill His purposes for our lives. (06006220107)

(Luke 4:16-22) We learned in a previous broadcast that Jesus came to preach, and today we see that He delivered a very definite message. When Jesus came the first time, He graciously proclaimed the good news. His message will be very different when He comes again. Let’s find out what it will be! (06005220106)

(John 10:10) As surely as eternal life can be your present possession, abundant life can be your present experience. In today’s broadcast we will uncover the Source of an abundant life! (06004220105)

(John 9:39-41) When we humbly receive God’s truth, He opens our hearts, and we grow in knowledge and understanding. But to those who reject His truth, He closes them off and judgment awaits. Have you thanked God for opening your eyes to His truth? (06003220104)

(John 6:38) Until we discover and do what God created us to do, we are never really fulfilled. As we study another purpose for which Jesus came, we find it is a purpose we all share. The question we must ask is, “Am I living to accomplish my own agenda or to accomplish the will of God for my life?” (06002220103)

(John  1:1, 10-14) Would you like to see God? Everything you need to know about God, you can see in Christ – His glory, His wisdom, His love, His patience, His mercy, His power! Jesus perfectly reveals every aspect of God to mankind. It’s yet another reason why Jesus came! (05523211231) 

(John  12:46) God has given all of us light. We see the light of creation, experience the light of conscience, and are invited to receive the Light of the world. When we come to know Jesus, we are changed and no longer walk in darkness. Are you walking in darkness or light? (05522211230) 

(Mark  2:14-17) God’s truth demands a response! Imagine a physician who prescribed a cure, but the sick refused to admit they needed it. The Great Physician came to earth to call the spiritually sick (sinners) to repentance. Will you receive the cure? (05521211229) 

(Mark 1:38-39) In Mark 1, Jesus declares another purpose for His coming. He came to preach! Jesus always preaches the truth, and He seeks after those who need to hear His message. What are the implications of His example in our lives? (05520211228) 

(Matthew 10:32-39) Jesus came bearing a sword, and that sword was the cross. The cross drives us to Christ, or it drives us away. It brings great division between those who know Christ and those who do not. You are either with Him or against Him. Whose side are you on today? (05519211227) 

(Matthew 20:28b) Jesus lived his whole life for one hour – the hour He would be lifted up on the cross and pay for our redemption.  Jesus paid the ransom price in full! Believe it, rejoice in it, and share it with someone else today! (05518211224) 

(Matthew 20:28a) As servants of God, we should find out what the Master wants us to do and make that our mission. The great motive in the life of Christ must become the great motive in the life of a Christian. In today’s message, we learn with James and John that serving others is our greatest “why.” (05517211223) 

(Matthew 5:17-18) It would be impossible for Jesus to save us had He not fulfilled ALL the law. Likewise, it is impossible for us to fully know Him without studying all of Scripture. His story does not begin at Bethlehem. Today we see that Jesus came to fulfill divine prophecies. (05516211222) 

(Matthew 1:21) Did Jesus only come into the world to live a good life and be a good teacher, or did He have a greater purpose? He came with a much greater purpose! He came to seek and to save all who will believe in Him. What a purpose! What a gift! (05515211221) 

(John 18:37) During the Christmas season we usually focus on HOW Jesus came, yet the greater truth is WHY He came. What was His great purpose? Over the next few episodes, we will discover the purpose statements of Jesus. Today, we’ll start with the end! (05514211220) 

(Revelation 22:20-21) Revelation and all of Scripture ends with a word of assurance and agreement. Today we look at the double "Amen" found at the end of the Bible. Will you make it your own? 

(Revelation 22:1-21) The final chapter in God's Word shows us so many last things. Each of them holds tremendous significance for those of us living in the last days. These are the things that help us get ready for eternity... 

(Revelation 22:20-21) John specifically prayed for two things at the end of this amazing Revelation. Take these two requests for your own prayers today! Time is passing quickly...it's time to pray. 

(Revelation 22:17) Truth demands a response. As we give the gospel out we must also invite people to come into the family of God. On the last page of the Bible God once again reveals His heart with a simple invitation: "Come." 

(Revelation 22:16-20) Once we know the truth it is our responsibilty to share it with others. This is not some academic or professional work - it is deeply personal. Today someone you will meet needs to hear your testimony about Jesus Christ. 

(Revelation 22:14-15) In the end there are only two groups of people: those who obey the truth and those who don't. Which group do you belong to? Now is the time to obey - Jesus is coming soon! 

(Revelation 22:14-15) If Jesus is coming soon, what should we be doing in preparation? A life of obedience begins by obeying the gospel. There is blessing for this life and the one to come for those who will obey. 

What is your life's work? Does it connect to God's work? Will it be pleasing to God? Christ is coming and He is bringing His reward with Him. Let's determine to make our work count for eternity.

In the first and last chapter of Revelation we are commanded to give attention to the Word of God. Soon we will see Him face to face! Here are four things we all should do with His Book until He comes.

God alone is worthy of worship and He will have it for eternity. In light of the fact that Christ is coming at any moment we should give more attention to our personal worship today. Take the challenge to begin worshipping God.
